Alina + Chris | Taos Ski Valley Winter Wedding

February 26, 2018

It only took about two weeks of being engaged for Chris and Alina to decide that they wanted to have a destination wedding at a ski resort. They wanted to incorporate the beauty of the mountains, snow, and nature as the backdrop into their wedding, as well as wanting to ski on their wedding day. And being from Texas, they would have to venture to New Mexico to accomplish this.

Taos Ski Valley is a familiar and meaningful place for Alina and her family. Taking trips from Dallas at least twice a year, it was her late father’s favorite place on earth. Alina brought her fathers ski jacket to place on one of the chairs during the ceremony and wore it during a sentimental dance with her brothers. Even though he wouldn't be able to walk her down the aisle, Alina said, "If I could imagine his spirit being anywhere, it would be in Taos Ski Valley. I believe he won’t be absent on my wedding day while we are in the place that was so dear to him and where his heart always was."

The day was full of beautiful winter mountain touches, the warm winter coats and fur stoles the bridal party wore, the aspen inspired wedding cake, and the mountain themed invitations. Tomas Baca of Tasteful Events by Tomas designed the ceremony and reception to reflect the beauty only found in the mountains.  Alina surprised everyone when she walked down the aisle in her beautiful sea foam green wedding dress, custom designed by Khanh Nguyen, which stood out as Alina and Chris skied down the mountain in their wedding attire. There was a strong sense of family connection during the wedding; Alina's aunt officiated, her nieces were the flower girls (As Alina was their parents flower girl), both brothers walked her down the aisle, both of Chris's brothers were groomsmen, and Chris's mother's reception speech was so sentimentally beautiful, it left everyone crying.

A huge congrats to the newlyweds, it was such an honor to be a part of your big day.
