Los Poblanos Closing and Venue Alternatives

Last week we were delivered with the heartbreaking news that our favorite venue, Los Poblanos, was no longer going to be hosting weddings. We are devastated, as this has become a second home to us. We adore not only the staff and all the cute little critters who live at this venue, but all the photo opportunities from the lavender fields to the iconic pink wall.

Our couples who were supposed to get married there are now faced with having to try and find a replacement, while also navigating planning their big day during a pandemic. We know it hasn't been easy, and this news has really taken the wind out of your sails.

Just know we are here for you, and still want to be a part of your day, whether you choose to have your wedding in your living room or at another venue, or eve choose to postpone to 2021 or 2022.

We wanted to compile a list of venue alternatives for all the couples who were supposed to be married at Los Poblanos or who had dreamed of planning their wedding there one day. Some are in New Mexico, others are in our neighboring states.

New Mexico Alternatives

La Mesita, Santa Fe, NM

This incredible horse stable just outside Santa Fe has become a local favorite. More elegant than rustic, it features stunning New Mexico views and picturesque grounds, and offers the freedom and ability to customize every single aspect of your day.

Casa Rondena, Los Ranchos de Albuquerque NM

Want to get married in New Mexico but have a wedding that looks like it took place in Tuscany? Then Casa Rondena is your place. This little winery in Albuquerque is one of our most favorite spots! It features a stunning stone house, fields of grape vines and the most adorable little pond to say your I dos.

La Posada, Santa Fe NM

La Posada has it all: amazing spas to relax in as you destress before the big day, beautiful suites to get ready in, countless locations for stunning portraits, is walking distance from downtown Santa Fe, and even has a great lawn where they set up the prettiest reception tents. It is a luxurious venue for weddings of all sizes, be it intimate or large (or as large a gathering as you can have, considering current circumstances).

El Monte Sagrado, Taos, NM

Featuring willows and cottonwoods, aspens and waterfalls, this magical location was built around The Sacred Circle— a spot revered by Native Americans for hundreds of years. Beyond the stunning grounds that possess amazing views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, they also offer whitewater rafting, a Living Spa, golfing, hot-air balloon adventures, art galleries, and of course, the historic Taos Pueblo.

Hyatt Regency Tamaya, Bernalillo, NM

At Tamaya, the world is your oyster. With 3 location options for your ceremony and reception you can have the look of a wedding amongst the forest by the river, on the sunrise pavilion with a view of the Sandias at sunset or over in the hummingbird pavilion under a beautiful tent. They’re able to boast 550 acres of land, meaning there are no shortages of things to do if you and your guests are staying there for your wedding, or, most importantly, places to take pictures during your special day! With the resort being located on the Native American Santa Ana Pueblo, there’s also the added bonus of being able to experience centuries of history and culture.

Colorado Venue Alternatives

With the current state of planning a wedding during a pandemic, we are required to shrink our guest count. Since we are seeing more and more intimate weddings, why not take your wedding out of state? Colorado is currently allowing weddings of up to 100 guests inside, with even more being allowed for outside, so it is something you may want to consider!

The Manor House, Littleton, CO

Settled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in the Ken Caryl Valley, the Manor House of Littleton is a historic venue that has been entertaining presidents, celebrities, and more for 103 years. It's easy to see why, as the gorgeous six-acre estate offers panoramic views that include, bust most definitely are not limited to, a breath-taking perspective of downtown Denver. There's even a large ballroom that can fit up to 200 guests (though keep in mind that Colorado's cap is still currently at 100), along with intimate fireplace rooms for a more cozy reception.

Grant Humphrey's Mansion, Denver, Colorado

The Grant Humphrey's Mansion is located in Denver's historic Quality Hill neighborhood, which is only minutes from downtown Denver. Another landmark venue, this mansion boasts almost 120 years of rich history. It features plentiful flower beds, beautiful birch trees, and lush green lawns on the exterior, while the interior contains a grand staircase, elaborately detailed fireplaces, luxurious rooms, and even a ballroom.

The Little Nell, Aspen, Colorado

Whether you want to be married at the foot of the Rocky Mountains or high atop it, this location is perfect for weddings that want a breath-taking view of the Colorado landscape. They also boast the only 5 star hotel in Aspen, so your guests will truly never forget your big day.

The Woodlands, Denver, Colorado

The Woodland's describes itself as "a classic barn with a modern twist," making it ideal for couples who are looking for a blend of tradition with contemporary. The white walls make it a stunning and classic backdrop for photos, while also possessing the trademark Colorado views.

Texas Venue Alternatives

White Sparrow Barn, Quinlan, TX

Voted by Bride's Magazine as a Top Wedding Venue in America, this venue is a uniquely stunning spot. The white rustic buildings blend flawlessly with the lush green grounds, making it feel aesthetically high-end. We have dreams of shooting at this picturesque venue, with tall chandelier lit white ceilings in the barn and a garden of lavender. It has it all.

Rancho Mirando San Antonio, Tx

photo: Jenny Demarco

Rancho Mirando is a 50 acre luxury guest ranch and event venue located in the beautiful Texas hill country just an hour from Austin and San Antonio, Texas. Situated along a ridge known as the Devil’s Backbone, Rancho Mirando or “the looking ranch” was named for its breathtaking views overlooking the Wimberley valley. Standing on the porch of the 4,000 square foot Spanish mission-style hacienda with its clear Texas skies and rolling hills, it’s quite easy to see why this jewel is in constant demand as the perfect hill country site for lavish events and weddings. Destination wedding weekends are their specialty!

The Olana Hickory Hill, TX

Hello Cinderella dreams! This notable french inspired mansion is built on an expansive 40 acre estate complemented by its own lake. The estate features lush landscaping, a tea room modeled after New York’s Tavern on the Green, an indoor and outdoor pool, a tennis court, a bowling alley, a basketball court, expansive private suites and more. From the marble floors, to the gold-plated elevator, to the hand-carved spiral staircase – our mansion is rich with elegant details.

Meekermark, Magnolia TX

Have you ever seen a more unique ceremony location? I mean HOLY COW!? The Meekermark is the newest and most unique Houston wedding venue with lots of character for a picture-perfect wedding day. Character, because this venue is built from a reconstructed from a 200yr old barn, and picture-perfect because the entire property was designed by wedding photographers! That’s right – a family of wedding photographers designed The Meekermark after decades of experience capturing weddings at hundreds of local venues. "We took what we learned about lighting and elements that make amazing wedding photos, and incorporated it all into one amazing, custom-built venue!"
